Various Artists - Power of Flower (compiled by Lemongrass)
If you take a look at Roland Voss´ career it´s no surprise at all that he has such a diversified approach when it comes to music. In the mid 1970s Roland became a trained drummer playing in Jazz bands, experimenting with Free Jazz, Funk and Jazzrock. But soon he was fascinated by styles such as New Wave, Hip Hop or Jungle while he was producing music for TV-ads as well as working on multimedia projects. In the year 1997 the first Lemongrass track saw the light of day, making Lemongrass well known and respected nearly overnight. Soon countless releases on high profile imprints such as Mole Listening Pearls followed and the last decade saw Lemongrass taking both critics as well as listeners by storm.
Now Lemongrass is presenting a unique mix-CD, taking us on a wonderful and varied journey through his musical thoughts. Like his own productions this CD is far away from being trivial. It is not focusing on obvious, foreseeable effects – his music is going far below the evident surface, touching deeper feelings, giving small but meaningful hints to our soul. For Lemongrass it´s not about short lived hypes, for him it´s much more about creating a timeless oeuvre with this little but important balance between the aesthetic approach and the feel-good factor. His music is always touching our senses, spreading sensuousness.
So he does with this mix featuring a hand-picked band of artists, putting them into a well balanced context, covering nearly all different feelings. For this emotional journey he has selected the likes of Nova Ritmo, Climatic, Puch, The Lushlife Project, Hungary´s social critics Anima Sound System, Bazille Noire, Antennasia, Toma, Amun with their incomparable atmospheric “Discovering Your Smile”, Ohm-G who are getting us out of our everyday life with their lovely “Island Dream”, Sutramaka, Monodeluxe and lust but not least Lemongrass´ own lovely “The time flight”. All these wonderful pieces of music are convincing with their different colours, with their soul and with the love to details that is living under their bright surface – simply balsam for your soul! |
