DJ Nartak once more has carefully selected chillout-worldtronica-pop songs from our beloved planet. His „Klassik Lounge Nightflight Vol. 3“ presents the most shining pearls from the world of ambient, downtempo, new classics, dub & worldtronica, all merged in a delightful mix.

Whoever has booked his „Nightflight“ on German radio station Klassik Radio before knows of the ambient delights and stimulating impulses from the show’s cornucopia of global electronic listenining music. Hooked to every weekend’s double offering („Klassik Lounge Nightflight“ is on air each friday and saturday from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m.), fans and connoisseurs appreciate DJ Nartak’s golden touch at selecting extraordinary tunes, and his skills in arranging them on a string of deep atmospheric expressions. Some of his followers nicknamed him pearl diver as he manages to salvage the most exquisite tracks from the sheer infinite sea of sounds and put them in a most delectable mix.

And a great number of listening pearls you will encounter. Lackadaisical, shimmering grooves from a rejuvenated, almost completely new pack of artists are involved, hailing from Russia, the UK, India, U.S.A., France, Ibiza, Greece, Japan, and of course, from the soaring and creative German scene.

Highlight after highlight surface on this compilation. Just take the irresitible dub groove of Midival Punditz, adorned with Ravi Shankar’s daughter Anoushka on Sitar or DubXanne’s fantastic rework of Sting’s worldwide hit „Bring on the Night“. Also making an appearance is the much awarded Laya Project in a previously unreleased remix by Chris Zippel (best known for his cooperations with Pet Shop Boys). Apart from these deeply relaxing offerings, there is also time and space for dynamic excursions such as Razoof’s „The Cycle“ or Russian piano wizard Mikhail Korumenko aka Pianochocolate. Both tracks bring us a vivacious but also elegant groove for collective happiness. All those who have never heard of Karen Gibson Roc before should tune in to her contribution first – a breathtaking vocal talent from Brooklyn, NYC.

The whole package is – as is DJ Nartak’s trademark style – musically and stylistically multi-faceted. The suspenseful mix also reflects the most topical develepmonts in today’s studio productions and proves once again that Nartak always goes for gold and strives for the best. His outstanding achievement, though, is how effortlessly, relaxed and joyful he manages to present his musical treasures. After his fifth consecutive year on air and two preceding „Nightflight“ compilations he has matured like a full-bodied, fruity and most palatable red wine.

At the end of the day, there is no alternative when it comes to judge and choose top-notch chillout collections. DJ Nartak and his „Nightflight“ selections are rare and precious gems that are hard to find.

Look out for another fresh selection of DJ Nartak: the mp3 compilation „Groove on, Earth!“

Liner Notes:

CD1:

01. Midival Punditz feat. Anoushka Shankar - Rebirth
What a great gift, that Ravi Shankar's daughter Anoushka inherited her father's skills how to play the sitar so well! In combination with Midival Punditz elegant Electronica "Rebirth" is a true highlight of Worldtronica sound. And when you think the track is over, it starts again with a broken beat, which gives you goose pimples for sure!

02. Elkeland - Hallo
A laid back tune grooving along in a discreet manner. Then all of a sudden this fantastic trumpet appears. And sssswusch you are there: at your favorite summer spot with open blue skies and a soft breeze in your face. Thanks to Blue Flame Records for this.

03. DAO - A.T.I.
I like Chinmayo's productions a lot. A.T.I. is probably one of his most untypical tracks. I would call it modern Pop music, because it got everything what Pop should have: a harmonic production, good vocals with a catchy chorus, creamed by a beautiful saxophone. Irresistible.

04. Razoof - The Cycle (feat. Sunnie)
Yeah. Beware, Razoof makes you nod your head. "The cycle" is Downtempo groovin' at its best. Whenever you'll play this track it gives you a lift for sure! Spiced with some unique field recordings from good old India. Celebrate the entire cycle of life:)

05. Sine - Infinity
A Balearic sunset guitar session to take a deep breath in between. Sine will take you for a dream ride. So relax, taste the salty air and let the sun warm your face.

06. Niki Reiser - Lilli und Aldo
Great film music from famous Niki Reiser. I like the intensity of the guitar work building up a bright and shimmering atmosphere full of emotion and bursting energy. What a pity that the track is so short!

07. Bob Holroyd - The Release (Coded Fantasy Remix)
If you look a bit closer into my music collections, you'll find one name almost on every recent release: Bob Holroyd. I love Bob's work. To me his music is a sensitive reflection of Zeitgeist, touching you deep in your soul and giving hope by expressing the oneness of our (musical) worlds.

08. Rencause - Essaouira
Chris Zippel got style. He is one of the rare producers you can already recognize just by the sound. For "Essaouira" he has chosen some banging percussion and a rough trancy vibe to create a dynamic downtempo piece.

09. DubXanne - Bring On The Night (Dub On The Night)
Germany's Number-One Dub label "Echo Beach" was surprising us with a fantastic "The Police" dub-styled Remix Album a couple of months ago. Yes, lets "bring on the night", its Nightflight time.

10. Massivan - Getaway (Olson’s Mary Uhana Rmx)
And the Dubgroove continues with another expert for excellent soundscapes: Ivan Pezzini aka Massivan lives on Formentera. The surrounding there seems to be the right melting pot for him, because whatever he releases these days is great music with charm and style.

11. Feuerhake - Persian Drop
I know Stefan Feuerhake for more than 10 years. Being one of the most influential producers of the international trance scene, he was always also into good downtempo grooves as well. The "Persian drop" features a well tempered percussion build on some field recordings of a persian street scenery. Great globalized Trancefusion.

12. Norbert Weedloaf - Jack Is Back
A rough beauty, which I received from Modul8 Records. Riding on a loopy guitar riff this is electronic Triphopping at its best.

13. Solar Fields - Feelings (Album Edit)
If you are into Ambient music with a trancy touch, I can highly recommend the French label "Ultimae". They underline their work with the claim "panoramic music for panoramic people" always carefully styled in classy looking CD packages with some breathtaking photographs. Interestingly Ultimae seems to have a strong connection to the Scandinavian scene, because a lot of their producers come from there - as Solar Fields. So you'll get a bit of Northern vibes with the track: icy, deep, melancholic... so beautiful.

14. Estroe - Margje Hendrika
A perfect beautiful ambiental ending for CD1. Estroe just released her new album on highly acclaimed Connaisseur Records. They call it Livingroom Techno & Listening, what is quite a funny description but it gets the point.  So if you like laid back electronica with sound sense of taste and 4-to-the-floor drive check "Elemental Assets".

CD2:

01. Life Audience  - Budda Wears Headphones
When I heard this track for the first time, I knew immediately that I had to start one of the Nightflight CDs with it. It purely presents what the Nightflight vibe is all about. Building carefully with a lot of headroom on a simple piano accord, it will get you, slowly, slowly, slowly with crescendo. Simply irresistible.

02. Karen Gibson Roc  - Painted Room (Five Seasons Winter Solstice Remix)
I like Remixes. I am thrilled when Remixers take an original into different sound spheres and stylistic expressions. As Five Seasons aka Daniel Voss did. He embedded Karen Gibson Roc's charismatic voice on a minimal melancholic piano hookline leading on a scratchy T'Hop groove. By the way: have an eye on Karen Gison Roc over the next years. Great poet with Heart, Soul & Style!

03. Laya Project - A New Day (Genuine Remix)
If you never heard about "Laya Project" or "EarthSync" before, please check their work on the internet. You'll find beautiful Worldtronica music and very touching filming, especially in benefit to the people of the Tsunami region in 2004. By showing the breathtaking beauty of these places and the variety of their musical culture and spiritual background, it is a great contribution to gain a loving awareness and responsibility for our beloved planet Earth. Chris Zippel's Genuine Remix is taken from the forthcoming Laya Project Remix Album.

04. Pianochocolate - Waltz
Keep an eye on the growing Russian music scene! One of its most promising talents is piano wizard Mikhail Korumenko. On "Waltz" he combined his skills with some dynamic broken beats, and then goes sledging with us on an emotional tour through Russian winterland. This is a real catcher.

05. Sapporo Meets Janosch - Kurotschka Rjaba
Jazz meets Janosch. If you are a fan of famous drawer and story teller Janosch check the album, which is a CD-Book providing you a 30 years old jewel of Janosch's work as well as unique Jazz tunes by Sapporo. During Pianochocolate's last accords you'll start to hear the Russian version of Janosch's story. What a lush piece of music:)

06. Lemongrass - Elle Et Moi (2009 Extended Mix)
"Elle et moi" is my favorite tune from Lemongrass album "Filmothčque". Unfortunately the album version ends far too quick after only 3 minutes. So I was more than happy to hear that Roland Voss has extended his cinematic NuJazz master piece on satisfying 6:30 minutes.

07. Ensoul - Close Your Eyes
For the next 5 minutes you are invited to catch a glimpse of a warm summer night. Seductive vibes by Ensoul who managed to collect a sunset scenery with all necessary elements.

08. TYA - Indigo
Tya produces fine colorful downtempo music based on ethnic sounds from all over the world. Thanks to the Prudence Records crew for supporting such (global-) visionary artists. Regular Nightflight listeners may have already realized that I play quite a lot of their splendid catalogue.

09. Lazy Hammock - Gratitude
Last year Lucy Burns released a beautiful laid back album on Diventa Music. A fresh and sparkling homage to the summer. At the end of the album I found "Gratitude", which left me with my mouth open. On a minimal dubby groove Lucy floats with astounding rap poetry, expressing her gratitude to life in a natural philosophical way. Touching and inspiring, giving hope and strength to the listener.

10. D. Batistatos - Under Pressure
The summer moves on with my Greek connection. Okay, Dimitris Batistatos lives in Germany but his friend Nick Miamis who runs the record label "CosmicLeaf" is located in Greece. Rays of sunlight are shimmering through Dimitris's music. I don't know why he called the track "Under pressure" because it's such an easy one - full of positive vibrations.

11. Tafubar - The Wicked Thoughts Of You (Lemongrass Snowflake Mix)
Lemongrass polished Tafubar's original to a marvelous atmospheric downtempo tune. I especially like the break in the middle: street noises and a howling police siren create a melancholic cineastic moment.

12. Deep Dive Corp. - Away
If you check Deep-Dive-Peter's latest album release, you'll find two remakes/remixes of 80s heroes Anne Clark and Depeche Mode. Obviously and to our listening pleasure this has left some impact on the other tunes as well, which you can hear on "Away". Enfolding carefully on a delightful guitar groove towards peak time with great Brass section.

13. Martin Wester - A Small Song
Martin Wester and Klangraum Records are releasing fine spacious Ambient music. Calling their contribution to the Nightflight mix "a small song" is actually a bit too humble for such a beautiful piece of music. A good example of how to reach the most by keeping it minimal. Remarkable simplicity.

14. Roger Matura - Time Is A River (Prologue)
A little jewel from the New Classics genre will slowly bring you back from the Nightflight journey. Roger Matura, a well known German song writer, disclaims on his strongest expression -his voice- and let the piano do the work. A sensitive moment of poetic storytelling.
